Hassan or popularly known as "Poor Man's Ooty" is placed in the heart of Malnad, Karnataka. The town is known for its pictorial setting, treasure of architectural glory and unique workmanship of Hoysala. It takes it name from the presiding deity goddess 'Hasanamba'. It was Channa Krishnappa Naik who founded it in the 11th century.
Hassan is a wonderful gift to the world for its splendid temple architecture. It is a wonderful passage to undertake artistic journey to the nearby places like Belur and Halebid known for their splendid work of temple architecture.
